SHISEIDO UK Ltd. has entered into a multi-year warehousing and distribution agreement with XPO Logistics, Inc for the UK & Ireland business from 29h April 2020. This appointment will cover all business-to-business logistics for the Group’s Skincare, Cosmetics and Fragrance portfolio: bareMinerals, NARS, Laura Mercier, Dolce&Gabbana Beauty, SHISEIDO, Elie Saab, Narciso Rodriguez, Issey Miyake, Serge Lutens and Clé de Peau Beauté. Additionally, XPO will also handle customer fulfilment via the Group’s e-Commerce channels; bareMinerals, NARS and SHISEIDO. The integration from the distribution centre in France to XPO Logistics will be phased to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted service for vendors and customers. XPO Logistics, Inc (NYSE: XPO), is a leading global provider of transport and logistics solutions and has set up a distribution centre with 80,000 square feet of floor space dedicated to SHISEIDO Group’s portfolio in Derby, with plans to expand to 100,000 square feet during the partnership. The UK facility will enable SHISEIDO Group to benefit from XPO’s eCommerce warehouse management system, as well as rapid start-up and increased retail order lead times. The new UK based DC will allow a significant reduction in the business’s carbon footprint and aid in the SHISEIDO Group’s efforts towards sustainability with domestic fulfilment, but also owing to the many measures taken by XPO within the Derby premises which include: separate, bail on site and send for recycling all plastic and cardboard; LED lighting in the warehouse on sensors; rainwater harvesting on site; solar panels on the roof which heat the site’s water; electric car charging point on site; bee hives on site to support the local ecosystem, with honey harvested for employees; Ted’s Veg – a range of vegetables are home-grown on site and given to employees; and cycle to work scheme for all employees and on site recycling.
