SGBG has appointed Platform Creative to handle press and publicity. SGBG is a new luxury prêt-à-porter womenswear label, founded in India by mother-son duo Bindu and Surya Giri. With a focus on expert craftsmanship and the synthesis of contemporary ideas with cultural design techniques, the brand delivers uniquely timeless pieces that are rooted in heritage. The brand’s parent company, Bindu Giri, is a decade-old, award-winning handloom label that provides garments to fashion’s elite across the globe. It was formed by Bindu after she was exposed at a young age through her royal lineage to the incomparable work of the region’s craftsmen; traditions which were lost in the country’s post-British rule. Passionate about keeping these incredible traditions and techniques alive, Bindu, who has degrees in business and apparel design from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and LaSalle School of Art, revived many handlooms and works closely with several weaver communities to create traditional garments that are more art form than accoutrement.
