Race Furniture celebrates 70th anniversary with Re-Work It installation
The 70th anniversary of Race Furniture’s iconic BA2 Chair is marked with 90 re-interpretations by top UK design talent including Paul Smith, Barber Osgerby, Bouroullec Brothers, David Chipperfield, Tom Dixon, Lulu Guinness, Nicky Haslam, Yinka Shonibare MBE and Alice Temperley. The BA2 Chair is subject to a vibrant collaboration between Selfridges and The Art Room in partnership with the Columbia Threadneedle Foundation on a large scale installation entitled Re-Work It. 90 of the UK’s top artists, designers and architects have been invited to transform this classic chair. The pieces form an installation curated by arts consultancy Fair & Co suspended from the ceiling of Selfridges’ Atrium space which will build over the course of four weeks and culminate with all 90 on view on May 19. Available to buy at auction Paddle8 from May 22, the initiative will help raise both awareness and funds for The Art Room.
