London College of Style launches new Photography course
The London College of Style has announced the launch of a new course in Fashion Photography, focused on work placements and job opportunities. The course was created following focus groups with some of London’s emerging fashion photographers to find out what skills they lacked and believed to be most important. How to navigate fashion industry protocols, engaging with editors, networking and having solid ongoing career support topped their wish list.
The syllabus covers studio-based technical classes to master commercial and creative techniques to a professional level, plus post-production, portfolio curation and marketing and self-promotion skills. Practical assignments will see students photographing designers and brands at London Fashion Week and working to industry-quality briefs on their own photoshoots. This will involve students managing the end-to-end process including scouting locations, booking models and working with hair and make-up teams. Their resulting photo stories will be submitted for publication with reputable media and fashion brands.
The course will be available from September 2018, and they are accepting applicants now.
