Last week saw the eighth Footwear Friends Annual Awards, held at St. Mary at Hill Church in Eastcheap, London on November 6 to recognise the entrepreneurial talent emerging in the footwear industry. The Worshipful Company of Cordwainers Award for Innovation went to Rollasole Ltd, which was awarded a £5,000 bursary aimed at developing a Young Designer’s business. The Micro-Pak Ltd. Award of £2,500 plus 12-months mentoring programme was presented to Solillas. The Meltzer Travel Award went to Dear Frances who was given £750 to assist candidates in attending key trade shows and researching materials and trends. The BFA/FN PLATFORM Award for Export Potential went to Solillas, which provides the winner with an opportunity to show on a sponsored stand at the USA’s premier footwear show, Magic in Las Vegas.
