Blow has been appointed to handle PR activity for Australian ready-to-wear womenswear brand Roopa Pemmaraju. Pieces feature original artworks by renowned indigenous Australian artists, printed on ethically produced hand-woven Indian fabrics. Roopa’s designs are developed in collaboration with the artists from initial concept to finished garment, consulting at every stage of the design process to ensure a perfect translation from painting to textile. The SS15 collection, which features artworks from Reko Rennie, Pauline Gallagher and Rosie Tasman, includes simple, contemporary clean-looking geometric prints each resonating with stories from the artists’ own background. The colourful prints bring a bright and eye catching collection, with a primary palette of red, yellow, teal and indigo. All pieces are made by highly skilled Indian artisans specialising in hand weaving fabrics, print-blocking and hand embellishment, producing beautiful pieces featuring the bold, graphic artworks. Only natural dyes derived from organic sources are used, producing the pure shades and subtle variability needed to reproduce the artists’ designs with integrity while also being kind to the planet.
