The nominated designers represent the best of London’s thriving fashion talent in both ready-to-wear and accessories that are in a strong position to develop into a global fashion brand. The winner of the award will be announced 29th January 2013.
Alexandra Shulman, Editor of British Vogue and Chair of the Fund Committee, commented on the shortlist,
“We have an incredibly strong short list of contenders for the fund. It is wonderful to see the impressive talent coming out of London that has reached a stage in their business where they can qualify for the prize.”
The BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund provides one designer with a bespoke, high level mentoring support programme over a twelve month period, as well as a £200,000 grant to provide necessary infrastructure to take them to the next stage in their business.
The Fund, now in its fourth year is a legacy project from the BFC’s 25th anniversary celebrations. The previous winners of the fund are Erdem, Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders.
Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, commented, “The high standard of applications and presentations demonstrates the growing number of both highly creative and professional fashion businesses we have here in London and the great potential for growth in this sector."
The BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund is proudly supported by Burberry, Clothing at Tesco, Debenhams, Harrods, LF Europe, Paul Smith, Topshop, and Vogue.
