Homes & Gardens Designer Awards 2015 winners announced
The winners of the 2015 Homes & Gardens Designer Awards were revealed last night in a ceremony celebrating Britain’s wealth of product and design talent. The Awards, now in their 16th year, were presented at the British Museum by Deborah Barker, editor-in-chief of Homes & Gardens, with Tom Dyckhoff, architecture critic, broadcaster and presenter of BBC 2’s The Great British Interior Design Challenge. The judging panel for this year’s Awards includes some of the biggest names in British design, including Matthew Hilton, Nick Munro and Robin Levien, and is chaired by design writer Barbara Chandler. The Outstanding Achievement award was presented by Sir Kenneth Grange to Sir John and Lady Sorrell. The winners included: Bathroom Product Designer – Dick Powell for the Dea collection for Ideal Standard; Kitchen Product Designer – The Design Team, The Fourth Wall for Poggenpohl; Surface Designer – Eleanor Pritchard for her woven woollen textiles; Use of Materials Designer – Stuart Carey for his semi-porcelain stoneware; Lighting Designer – Michael Anastassiades for his String Light for Flos; Furniture Designer – Samuel Chan for his Kerning sideboard; Young Designer – Lucy Kurrein for her Panel Chair; Retailer of the Year – Carmel Allen for Heal’s; Backer of British Design – Karen Nairstone of Design Event; and Outstanding Contribution – Sir John and Lady Sorrell (pictured).
