Dazed Media appoints Executive Fashion Director
Dazed Media has announced that Robbie Spencer has become Executive Fashion Director of Dazed where he previously served as Fashion Director and Creative Director. In his new role, Spencer will continue to shoot cover and main fashion stories. Spencer’s 15-year career at Dazed started in 2004. He has held the title of Fashion Director since June 2013 and Creative Director since June 2015. Over the last 15 years Spencer’s achievements have included styling over 75 cover stories working with talent such as Rihanna, Frank Ocean, Lana Del Rey, Willow Smith, Lupita Nyong’o, Millie Bobby Brown, Zayn Malik, Grimes, Sky Ferreira, Chloë Grace Moretz, Björk, Finn Wolfhard, Chloë Sevigny, Lorde, Iris Apfel, Maisie Williams, Kiernan Shipka, Kendall Jenner, Mia Goth, Nicki Minaj, Kirsten Dunst, Young Thug, Amandla Stenberg, Elle Fanning and Ashton Sanders.
Spencer’s vision for Dazed as its Fashion Director and Creative Director marked a new era for the magazine. Under his tenure, the magazine’s direction veered towards a new way of storytelling – pioneering campaigns and cover stories including Iris Apfel in Rei Kawakubo’s 2D Comme Des Garçons collection (November 2012); the inaugural Dazed 100 winner Kendall Jenner shot by Ben Toms in Junya Watanabe (Winter 2014); Young Thug by Harley Weir (August 2015); the Stranger Things issue with Finn Wolfhard and Millie Bobby Brown shot by Collier Schorr (Winter 2016); Lana Del Rey shot by Charlotte Wales (S/S 2017); the 9-cover 25th anniversary celebration issue (A/W 2016); Rihanna shot after dark by Harley Weir (Winter 2017), and The Power of Protest issue bringing together Vivienne Westwood with a new generation of activists in the UK and the USA shot by Harley Weir (Summer 2018). Spencer’s new role will be effective from 21 November 2019 after the Dazed winter issue is published.
