The i appoints former BuzzFeed UK editor-in-chief to new Head of Audience Development role
The i, Britain’s first and only concise quality newspaper, has appointed ex-BuzzFeed’s Luke Lewis to the newly created role of Head of Audience Development for inews.co.uk. Luke will oversee the expanding digital team, driving the brand’s ambitious online growth strategy. This includes reaching new audiences and increasing engagement through significant investment in key content areas, including news, lifestyle, entertainment, money, travel, sport and video. He will identify talent with a recruitment drive for 10 new roles, and work with i’s commercial team to develop solutions for advertising clients. Luke’s appointment follows a record month for inews.co.uk, which hit 1.94 million unique browsers in January. This is the best monthly performance for the site since it launched in April 2016, following Johnston Press’s acquisition of the i print newspaper. In 2017, inews.co.uk was shortlisted for Best Launch (The Drum Online Media Awards) and Website of the Year (British Press Awards and the newsawards).
